What Fossils can you find Gristhorpe?
Dinosaur bone
(Gristhorpe) - 2006

At the centre of Gristhorpe Bay, blocks of Oxford clay yield Ammonites of Parawedekindia arduennensis and Cardioceras praecordatum. Within a pale grey limestone of the Hackness Rock Member, Kosmoceras spinosum and Quenstedtoceras can be found.

The Cornbash Limestone can contain many gastropods, bivalves and other fossils. It is quite a walk north before you reach the Gristhorpe Plant Beds. These beds are on the Northern side of Yons Nab, 1m below a silty shale bed. Within this bed, well preserved stems, leaves of Bennetitales, Ferns, Pteridophytes, Ginkgoales, Cornifers and other plants. This bed is certainly the most interesting and most collected from the Gristhorpe area.
